New BEA director
The Board of Directors of BEA, the association that regroups organisations representing music producers/distributors, theatrical and home entertainment distributors, and video game publishers, has named Pieter Swaelens as Managing Director. He succeeds Olivier Maeterlinck, who will manage the Corporate Communications and Marketing department of SABAM, the Belgian association that deals with the management of the rights of authors, composers and publishers.
Extensive experience in the sector
Pieter Swaelens has been active in both the video and video game sectors for many years, in particular as the Country Manager Benelux at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. He was also president of Bea Vidéo for several years, and was a founding member of BEA. As Managing Director, Pieter Swaelens will be responsible for the general management of BEA, and will report directly to the Board of Directors, comprising Bea Music (music producers), Bea Vidéo (video distributors), Bea Interactive (game publishers) and ABDF (theatrical distributors).
Contact point and representation of interests
Patrick Guns, president of BEA, states “I am very pleased that someone with the experience of Pieter Swaelens is taking up the torch of Olivier Maeterlinck, who put his heart and soul into managing BEA for nearly 10 years. Pieter Swaelens’ dedication ensures that the interests of the entertainment industry in Belgium are in good hands, and that BEA will remain the contact point for the sector, the media and the political world.”
