The Belgian gaming companies present in large numbers at Gamescom 2019
This year, the Belgian gaming industry is prominently present at Gamescom, one of the largest gaming expos in the world. The convention, which runs from 20 to 24 August, has 350,000 visitors and 1000 exhibitors from 50 countries. This year, no less than 24 Belgian companies attended Gamescom, a record for the Belgian gaming industry.
Belgian gaming industry in full bloom
2018 was a record year for the Belgian gaming industry with a turnover of € 93 million. Five years ago, this amount was still € 44 million. In addition, this increasing turnover has a positive effect on employment. In 2018, 1,100 people worked in the Belgian gaming sector; less than five years ago, this figure was much lower, with 400 employees.

Speelhetslim.be was launched by the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Interactive Software Federation Europe (ISFE), the Flemish Games Association (FLEGA), the Wallonia Games Association (WALGA), PEGI, the European Games Developer Federation (EGDF) and Screenbrussels. The campaign is officially supported by the Federal Ministry of Digital Agenda, by Mediawijs and by the Flemish Ministry of Culture, Media, Youth and Brussels.
